If there was a 6 star option I would have selected that.Furnace blew out….had a bunch of quotes and Builders Choice stood out from the beginning.Quick competative quoteSeamless, clean and professional installThey were even able to come out the next day and have our house warm again within 24 hours from the initial call.Highly recommend.
We have an older home that never had air conditioning, Curtis came out to give me a quote. He was great, took his time to explain the products and what would be the best choice for our home. It’s difficult to find trades people who take pride in their work these days but all the technicians who worked on our system were friendly, answered my questions and provided a nice clean install. One day install for a complete retro fit and now we finally have an old home that can stay cool in the heat. New furnace, AC, humidifier and tankless water heater including electrical work done at a very competitive price point. Thanks guys!
Jarvis the technician was thorough and did a great job. He did not find the issues that another contractor said they found. I would highly recommend this company as they are honest, thorough and prompt. When I called they came immediately even though we were in the middle of a heat wave and I am sure they were very busy. Ginger who took my call was very polite and understood my problem. If you are looking for an honest company to work with call Builders choice. They will be my choice for all my work in the future.
The first night I moved in to my new home I purchased, I was without heat. I called the company's emergency line around 1 a.m. and left a message. Called back around 2 a.m. and I had clearly woken up the tech. He asked me if I could wait until the morning or if he could walk me through some troubleshooting steps. I felt like I was inconveniencing him (no doubt working the overnight emergency on-call sucks, but I was without heat and didn't appreciate that pressure). The heat issue was resolved quickly (by 3 a.m.) and I was advised that a hose was incorrectly installed and that there was a recall on a part, which he said he would replace while he was there. I appreciate the work he did quickly and at such an odd hour on a Saturday morning.About 2 days later (Monday), I noticed water leaking from this brand new furnace in my brand new home. I called again. The receptionist, Crystal, was not empathetic to my situation, telling me water leaking is not an emergency and she could send someone later that week. I became irate, having been through a difficult period in my personal life, and she hung up on me. She later shared she too was dealing with personal issues. I understand, we all have our moments, and I appreciate that we were able to get things back on the level. When cooler heads prevailed, on our next call, she denied that a tech had even come by to fix my furnace over the weekend because it "wasn't in the system". It's one thing to not document things properly; it's another to accuse me of lying about something that she could easily verify by just communicating with her team. The water leak was eventually resolved. The tech indicated he forgot to reconnect a hose when he did the initial repair. Frustrating, but I suppose understandable when you're fixing things at 3 a.m.Overall, very stressful, and I felt like I was the one having to manage emotions over the situation, which is odd as the customer.Wouldn't recommend.UPDATE: 2025-05-15The issues did not end with the heating. On the first warm day, my AC was not working. The tech that came by indicated that it wasn't hooked up. He then advised me that it was balanced in the winter (which doesn't make sense if it wasn't hooked up), so additional service may be required to rebalance. He also advised me that because of the sunlight I get in my home, the AC probably won't do much (which makes no sense). Either way, clearly setting my expectations for further issues. The AC has again stopped working. Air is leaking out through the furnace up to 2 feet and not getting pushed through the system. I was advised this was probably because the "tape fell off from construction debris". It's leaking from a part of the furnace that isn't normally taped. So, we'll see!
Highly recommend this company! They travelled up to Muskoka to install our A/C! I work from home and they arrived on time and worked so efficiently it blew my mind. Barely any disruptions to my work day, noise kept to a minimum minus the obvious installation noises / drilling required. Very inconspicuous which was nice as I could go about my day normally. The units look amazing and blend in well they aren’t an eye sore. They spent time going over maintenance and how to use. Even followed up the next day to do a walk through quality control check to ensure it was running smoothly and answer any questions I may have had. Very reliable.Lastly, after just one day with our new A/C I’m already very pleased with how it’s functioning overall.
