Reviews frequently highlight strong communication before and during jobs, including clear estimates and day-of arrival updates. Homeowners note professional, tidy installations, especially for mini splits and related upgrades. Some feedback on complex electrification projects mentions missed details, suggesting expectations should be discussed thoroughly for larger scopes. Overall sentiment trends positive for responsiveness and workmanship on residential HVAC installs.

From the initial estimate for knob & tube remediation through project completion, the level of communication was truly exceptional. The follow-up after the estimate was prompt and thorough, and I appreciated the daily messages confirming when the technicians would be arriving. The photo and introduction of the lead technician ahead of time was a thoughtful touch that made me feel comfortable knowing who would be in my home.

Everyone on the team was professional, friendly, and respectful. They cleaned up at the end of each day and took the time to walk me through what had been completed, as well as what to expect next. All of my questions were answered clearly and patiently.

The project stayed on schedule and was even completed a day earlier than expected. I truly appreciate the team’s hard work and am extremely happy with the final result. Shout out to Rob T. and Alex P. who were on-site every day. Couldn't have asked for a better team. Franklin (my pup) already misses them.

I made a next day appointment for Electric Services for an electrical inspection and to replace a timer with a 120v switch, purchase and install outside lightbulbs, add a new GFCI outlet above the kitchen counter, and replace the vestibule light fixture.

Nell, the technician was prompt, respectful, thoroughly explained the work, and completed the tasks correctly and in a timely manner. He also used a mask that I supplied and his shoe covers.
The cost was somewhat high but was reduced, since I was signed up for the Gen3 monthly Home Protection plan.

I used Gen3 for an electrification project above $50k and would recommend finding someone else. I have found that they seem to let details slip, miss manufacturer installation instructions, and may break multiple items.

The electrification project required upgrading the electrical service, adding outlets for electric appliances, and replacing a water heater and HVAC system. We initially chose Gen3 as they were listed by an equipment manufacturer as a premier installer and reviews online seemed positive.

Through the project the installation teams seemed to change frequently resulting in overlooked details. Multiple holes were left in the sides of my house that were not air sealed. A humidifier installation was "done" but it didn't work. The installer didn't seem to test it before leaving. On several visits the installers broke items and did not mention it until I found the damage later on.

The installers were always nice and wanted to do a great job. With the frequent changing of technicians though details were lost on every switch. Communications through the company, specifically regarding project management, may be the issue. I found out that staff turnover at the company complicated the project.

Some of the equipment seems to work fine but I spent the summer with an AC system that couldn't cool my house sufficiently. The service tech said this system was more complicated than they usually install. Twice in 6 months there were refrigerant leaks requiring days to find and seal. It seems to be they installed a system so complex that they couldn't figure out how to get everything working well. I'm looking now at other contractors to fix these issues.

Update 10/29/2025 -------------

Debbie from Gen3 reached out after my initial review looking for more information about my experience. She was looking to have a manager come out with an equipment expert to diagnose my problems. After 2 months with no manager or equipment expert coming out she said my installation was unique and it was hard to get someone out to work on it. This is a system that Gen3 installed. The Gen3 salesperson at the time worked with an equipment expert on the configuration.

Debbie recommended another company come out to service my system. Inspection by another company pointed out a code issue and a few installation concerns. I'm having much of the work from Gen3 removed and replaced by another company.

Gen3 was great from start to finish. I cannot say enough good things about Pat Curran who came out to do the estimate for our mini split install. He was professional, kind, patient, and did not try to upsell us on anything - he offered different sizes and models/brands making sure we were comfortable with our selection. Other companies only gave us 1 option (the most expensive brand). Pat’s the reason we chose Gen3. We ended up needing to upgrade our electric, so we worked with both the HVAC and electrical teams at Gen3. Evan, Griffin, and Luis were terrific. Cindy and Andrea in the office were also very nice. Andrea scheduled a few phone calls with us to make sure we got the best possible price for this large project. Many other companies we reached out to were unsure how to deal with the layout of a Philly row home, particularly for the electric wiring, but Gen3 found a way! During the install, Luis (HVAC) and Griffin (electric) checked in with us throughout the day to make sure we were happy with placement and overall processes. I’m very happy with how everything turned out. House projects are always daunting but Gen3 made it as easy as possible!

Very happy with our new mini split that was installed! It's provided so much relief to my third floor office already. Eric and Luis were exceptional technicians. They were professional, knowledgeable, efficient and clean. Couldn't ask for more! Pat came to review the job initially and was very helpful in answering all my questions to put me at ease for this semi large project. I'm a repeat Gen3 customer and will continue to be!
